Add Cushions To Complete Yours Furniture
The beauty of most types of conservatory furniture is that the cushions are not attached to the furniture itself. This gives you lots of flexibility to choose your own fabrics & swap them out when its time for an upgrade.
The whole idea of a conservatory is that it is light & sunny. Keep this in mind when choosing the fabric for your cushions.
Cane conservatory furniture has a warm honeyish tone to it so it is best to complement it with warm coloured fabrics. Think about cream or beige colours as opposed to sharp whites. Floral prints work well against cane furniture if you are after a homely look. & recall, floral does necessarily mean elderly fashioned. Look to Cath Kidson for modern inspiration. If you need to splash out & make a design statement that will get noticed, Orla Kiely's signature stem print would look brilliant against cane furniture.
In contrast rattan has a lot of texture to it already so coupling it with a highly detailed print might be overkill. It definitely takes a skilful eye to pull it off. Back on safe street, plain colours will work well. Choose organic earthy colours to complement the natural charm of the rattan. White will reflect the sun beautifully. There's some stunning white fabrics available that have a hint of texture to the surface. This type of fabric won't only be more kind to any scuffs or stains, it will also complement your rattan furniture.
Natural coloured All Weather Furniture or Wicker can be treated in much the same way as rattan. Don't feel you are limited to white, there's some stunning organic colours out there like olive greens, burnt oranges, creams, browns & warm greys.
Black All Weather Conservatory Furniture, however is crying out to make a statement. Whilst it will look fantastically monochrome with white cushions, you can be as daring as you like. Choose bright fabrics that will reflect the light, this is important as the black furniture will absorb it.
Conservatory furniture shops will sell cushions in a range of fabrics & might have what you are looking for. This will be the cheapest option but don't rule out having cushion covers custom made. A local interior design shop will have reams of fabrics for you to choose from & will be able to advise on colours & patterns. It may be more viable to take this route when you come to replacing the original shop bought cushion covers.
Whatever fabrics you choose, have a think about maintenance. Try to choose covers that are machine washable so you can whip them off & give them a fast wash if they get dirty. For this reason the covers will need to be zipped or buttoned down five side so that you can remove them. You will also be able to alter them more easily when the time comes. If the cushion covers cannot be removed, make sure that they are coated with a wipe neat material.
